Memorandum to Development Management Committee
Dear Colleagues
Committee 1/8/12 Paper 4 (1)(ii) Establishment of Gypsy/Travellers’ Site at Crook Moss, Crook of Devon
I note to my amazement a recommendation to approve the above application. I will send you a brief appraisal of my comments on the report in due course. However, I thought you should see the attached background correspondence between myself and David Littlejohn. I do not regard his reply of 27/6/12 as addressing adequately the points I’ve raised.
Policy RD5 is a final draft and I understand the planners have no desire to change anything in the proposed LDP. I certainly had no notice of this policy or consultation prior to its inclusion in the LDP. PKC’s approach will further encourage retrospective applications and lack of overall planning control. I suggest an unauthorised and unknown site could be coming to any Councillor’s ward soon courtesy of this draft policy.
I am endeavouring to ascertain the practise of neighbouring local authorities in dealing with such sites. Clearly I will have to declare an interest on this one and seek to address the committee, having stated my objection.
Kind regards
Councillor Mike Barnacle
